Isadora Dumont is a doctoral candidate in media studies in the Department of Radio-Television-Film at The University of Texas at Austin. Her work explores questions of indigeneity and gender. She received her BA and MA in film studies from the Université de Montréal, completing her MA jointly with the Université Sorbonne-Nouvelle (Paris III) and the Université Paris-Nanterre (Paris X). Her master's thesis explored the representation of trans women of color in media through a comparative analysis of Paris Is Burning (Livingston, 1990) and Pose (Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk, Steven Canals, FX, 2018-2021). 

Isadora Dumont is working on her dissertation, which focuses on Indigenous women and transfeminine media-makers in North America who find healing through their art and reclaim their Native conscience. She organizes the Transgender Feminisms Reading Group, affiliated with LGBTQ Studies. She is also involved with the Native American and Indigenous Studies program. She works with the Contextualization & Commemoration Initiative to help restore Indigenous stories. She is currently a shepherd for The Velvet Light Trap
