MA Student
Professional Links & Recent Works
Born in Guangdong, Dongni spent most of her life moving between cities and towns along China’s southern and eastern coasts. She received social science research training during her undergraduate years and earned a Bachelor of Science (First Class Honours) in Applied Psychology from CUHK-Shenzhen. Dongni has conducted various independent research projects on fandoms, with her work appearing in Transformative Works and Cultures and at international conferences, including ICA.
As an MA student in Media Studies, Dongni aims to explore contemporary digital culture through the lens of gender, with a focus on East Asian fandoms. She is passionate about humanities and social sciences, both as academic disciplines and as public knowledge. She aspires to build her career in universities and to bring academic research to the public through general education and mass media.
In her downtime, Dongni (binge) watches cat and dog videos online, dreaming of adopting one (or maybe a few) when she settles down in the (far) future. Dongni is happy to support underrepresented international students in finding funded MA programs around the world. Feel free to contact her for help.
