Arturo is a Mexican filmmaker and educator with over 15 years of professional and international film experience in documentary and narrative projects. He has directed, shot, and produced films in Mexico, the United States, Cuba, Guatemala, Nicaragua, and the Czech Republic.
He has been an instructor and lecturer at The University of Texas at Austin, Austin Film Society, Austin Community College, Travis County Correctional Complex, and AMBULANTE Mexico. He holds an MFA degree in Film Production from UT Austin.
His short film, "El Fantasma", has screened at Camerimage, the Rhode Island International Film Festival, Palm Springs ShortFest, Bucharest Short Film Festival, and CineFestival San Antonio, where it won Best Texas Short.
In 2022, Latino Public Broadcasting selected Arturo for a Latino Emerging Filmmakers Fellowship (LEFF). He co-directed, alongside Edna Diaz, the short documentary "Sangre Violenta / Sangre Violeta." The film premiered at SXSW 2024 and won the Audience Award in the Texas Shorts category.
